Inaugural “Women of Empowerment” recognition program put a spotlight on achievements

The Women’s Empowerment Network (WEN) organization at Cincinnati State recently concluded its inaugural celebration of “Women of Empowerment.” The recognition program took place during March–Women’s History Month—and gave members of the College community the opportunity to put a spotlight on contributions of students, alumni, and employees.

A total of 23 women were nominated for recognition. A team of WEN representatives reviewed the nominations and selected a “Woman of Empowerment” for each week of March.

Library Director Crissy Ross, a WEN advisor, said, “The Women of Empowerment initiative highlighted a diverse array of women. The nominations we received told many unique stories of how these nominees inspired and empowered others.”

WEN prepared a video to recognize all of the nominees, which you can view on the WEN Instagram page: https://www.instagram.com/p/C5V77DEvCHF.

Crissy said, “We appreciate everyone who contributed to our first effort to honor Women of Empowerment in the Cincinnati State community. We hope this recognition program will become an ongoing part of our College’s activities.”

The Cincinnati State Women’s Empowerment Network promotes women of multiple ethnicities through academic support, community service, mentoring, and activities that develop leadership and other skills.
