Helpers needed for a big high school Academic League tournament on Feb. 3

Cincinnati State will welcome teams from 19 public and private high schools to an important Academic League tournament on Saturday, February 3, and helpers are needed to serve as “quiz masters,” and in other roles that will help ensure a good experience for the visiting students and teachers.

The tournament day starts at 8:30 a.m. with breakfast and a welcome from President Monica Posey, followed by 3 rounds of competition before lunch, 2 more rounds of competition after lunch, and then the semi-finals and finals. The battle for Academic League supremacy is expected to wrap up by 3:30 p.m., but if you can’t stay all day, you can still assist.

The top two teams in the Cincinnati State competition will move on to state regional competition.

In addition to “quiz masters” who read the questions that teams answer to earn points, volunteers are needed to serve as timers and scorekeepers. Anyone age 13 or older is welcome to assist, so you can make this a family event if you wish.

If you can help on Saturday or if you have questions, please contact league directors Mark Tiemeier (mark.tiemeier@cincinnatistate.edu) or Milene Donlin (milene.donlin@cincinnatistate.edu).
