Main Building Recovery Project – Progress Report for Jan. 26

During the Board of Trustees meeting on Jan. 26, VP of Administration Lawra Baumann and CFO Chris Calvert updated the Trustees on progress in repairs and restoration of the Main Building.

  • Some rooms in A and B Wings are in use for Spring Semester classes. The rest of Main Building remains closed while repair work continues.
     
  • Main Building is expected to reopen for full use in Summer Semester 2021.

Repairs in process include:

  • Assessment and repair of 50 air handling units
     
  • Preparation for installing new chillers, with delivery expected in mid-February (The photo below shows the area where damaged chillers were removed and replacement equipment will be installed)
     
  • Continuing restoration of the building electrical systems
     
  • Continuing restoration of the Fitness Center area
     
  • Completion of building automated control systems

CFO Chris Calvert said coordination with the College’s insurance carrier, Traveler’s, is ongoing.

  • So far, the insurance company has not excluded or limited any of the College’s claims
     
  • Traveler’s has continued making cash advances to the College to cover insurance claims
