Volunteers needed to help with Academic League Tournament on Feb. 11

Cincinnati State continued a longstanding legacy of support for high school academic competitions by hosting the Greater Cincinnati State Academic League (GCAL) Winter Tournament on January 21.

The College will host the Cincinnati State Academic League Tournament– a cross-league competition– on Saturday, February 11, and student, faculty, and staff volunteers are needed from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Feb. 11 to help make the large tournament a success.

Volunteers can assist as “quiz masters” who read questions during matches, or help with timekeeping, scorekeeping, or recording results in the tournament “war room.”

If you want to help, please contact Academic League coordinators Milene Donlin (milene.donlin@cincinnatistate.edu) or Mark Tiemeier (mark.tiemeier@cincinnatistate.edu). Breakfast treats will be available for the volunteers.

At the January tournament, McNicholas High School took the top prize by defeating LaSalle in the final match. Students and their coaches and family members said they had a great time and they look forward to the upcoming competition.
