New study shows Cincy State has $1.3 billion economic impact in the region

At a time when employers are facing shortages in many high-skilled fields, a new economic impact study shows the critical role Cincinnati State plays in preparing students for in-demand careers.

A study conducted by the Cincinnati Regional Chamber Center for Research and Data found that Cincinnati State generates $1.3 billion annually for the Greater Cincinnati region—double its impact a decade ago. Overall, one in every 142 jobs in the region is supported by the College, its alumni or students.

The largest share of the impact comes from Cincinnati State’s alumni who live and work in the region. They account for $1.1 billion of the College’s $1.3 billion in overall impact.

Cincinnati State graduates, 85% of whom remain in the region, are #1 in average earnings among all 22 Ohio community colleges. Their contributions in the workforce support more than 7,400 jobs. With Cincinnati State enrollment growing, alumni impact is expected to continue increasing.

The report also highlights strong returns for students and taxpayers. The average Cincinnati State student is projected to earn about $560,000 more over a lifetime as a result of their education, representing $17 in additional earnings for every dollar invested.

“As this study shows, the impact of Cincinnati State is measured not only in dollars, but in the lives and careers of our graduates,” said President Monica Posey.

“Our students learn from experienced faculty who bring real-world expertise into the classroom, and they apply that learning through one of the most robust cooperative education programs in the nation. That combination prepares our graduates to succeed and to contribute in meaningful ways across this region.”

“Cincinnati State is a vital engine for workforce development in our region,” said Brendon Cull, CEO of the Cincinnati Regional Chamber. “Its graduates are helping employers meet demand in high-growth industries, and that talent pipeline is essential to the region’s continued economic growth and competitiveness.”

The Chamber’s Center for Research & Data will publish its final, comprehensive analysis of Cincinnati State’s impact on the region by summer 2026. The Cincinnati State Foundation is funding the Economic Impact Report.
