Feb. 9 was Dr. Monica Posey Day in Hamilton County

The Hamilton County, Ohio, Board of Commissioners designated February 9, 2026, as Dr. Monica J. Posey Day in Hamilton County.

A Proclamation for Black History Month honoring Dr. Posey was presented at the Commissioners meeting on Feb. 5.

Commission President Stephanie Summerow Dumas read the proclamation that recognizes Dr. Posey’s “more than three decades of distinguished service” to Cincinnati State and her “exemplary leadership” as the College’s President, as well as her other professional achievements and her “faith, service, and community engagement.” 

Commission Vice President Alicia Reece and Commissioner Denise Driehaus also shared their praise for Dr. Posey’s contributions to the College and the community.

Dr. Posey spent her Day of Honor in Washington, D.C., at the National Legislative Summit hosted by the Association of Community College Trustees. During the Legislative Summit Dr. Posey, members of the Board of Trustees, and other College officials met with Ohio’s Senators and some members of the House of Representatives to continue seeking federal support and funding for College initiatives.
