Health Information Mgmt grad wins scholarship from professional association

Ashton Rose graduated on May 10, 2025, with an Associate of Applied Science degree, cum laude, in Health Information Management. On May 19, Ashton learned he received a New Graduate Scholarship from the Ohio Health Information Management Association (OHIMA).

The scholarship provides reimbursement for the cost of the certification exam required to become a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA).
Graduate Scholarships are awarded to one graduating student from each of the 15 Ohio colleges and universities that offers a degree in Health Information Management.
Ashton’s nomination described him as “an exemplary student” who demonstrated academic excellence and leadership throughout his Cincinnati State experience by “consistently helping his classmates navigate challenging coursework and sharing resources.” Prior to graduation, Ashton was already using his technical skills in a medical coding position at a local hospital.
In addition to earning his professional certification, Ashton plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, combining his passion for technology with additional healthcare knowledge.
