CState hosts “Saturday Hoops” Tournament on Mar. 9; volunteers needed to support this community fundraiser

On Saturday, March 9, Cincinnati State’s Clifton Campus Gym will host the Saturday Hoops Knockout Tournament, where over 400 participants, ages 7 to adult, will play basketball to raise funds for the Cincinnati Hoops program.

CState students and employees are invited to attend– and if you can assist for a few hours between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m., helpers are needed to guide campus visitors and make sure the day goes smoothly.

Saturday Hoops, sponsored by the Cincinnati Youth Collaborative (CYC), is celebrating its 20th year of helping to improve kids’ outlook on life and themselves by inspiring them to try new things and make new friends.

Each Saturday morning, participating kids (ages 3-18) can experience a variety of creative, instructional, and physical activities at a Saturday Hoops location (Avondale, West End, Winton Hills, and at Zielger Park during the Summer).

Volunteer mentors establish a positive environment using four themes: Hard Worker, Cheerful Giver, Overcomer, and Good Steward. Mentors also strive to connect with each kid, build their self esteem, and promote a safe space to have fun!
