Automotive students received over $17K in scholarships via partnership with Kenwood Dealer Group

The Kenwood Dealer Group School of Automotive Technology at Cincinnati State has awarded its first set of scholarships to 27 students in the automotive degree and certificate programs. Each eligible student received a scholarship award worth up to $750.

Yvonne Baker, Dean of the Cincinnati State Business Division, said, “These scholarships help alleviate financial burdens and empower our students so they can focus on their education and prepare for careers in the automotive maintenance industry.”

All students who earn a grade of C or better in their introductory automotive course (AUTO 100) and continue in either the Automotive Service Management associate degree program or the Automotive Service Technician certificate program automatically receive the scholarship—no extra application process is required.

The automotive students also are eligible for other financial assistance, including Cincinnati State institutional scholarships.

In November 2023, Cincinnati State announced the start of a 10-year partnership between Kenwood Dealer Group and the College to support students pursuing degrees and certificates in automotive technologies.

In addition to scholarships, the gift of over $1.2 million from Kenwood Dealer Group provides state-of-the-art training equipment for students to use in their classes and labs.

By supporting the programs at Cincinnati State, the Kenwood Dealer Group—one of Greater Cincinnati’s largest auto groups—hopes to address the shortage of skilled technicians in the automotive maintenance industry, while also supporting Cincinnati State’s mission of academic excellence.
