Office of Online Learning provides Blackboard 101 & other help on Jan. 8 & 9

During the week prior to the start of Spring Semester, the Office of Online Learning is offering “Blackboard 101” sessions, Blackboard Office Hours, and other support.

Blackboard 101 is facilitated by Dr. Jon McKamey, Instructional Designer.

Instructors who are not familiar with Blackboard or want to brush up on the basics are welcome to this hands-on, in-person training. You must have a valid Cincinnati State username and password to attend, and advance registration is required.

Sessions will be offered:

  • Monday, Jan. 8 – 4-7 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Jan. 9 – noon-3 p.m.

Bring files to use during the training (course syllabus, course documents, handouts, PowerPoint files,etc.). If you have files stored on your Z Drive or One Drive, you will be able to access them there.

Topics covered include:

  • How to log onto the MyCState/Blackboard site
  • How to navigate within the MyCState environment
  • How to modify a course site and customize it for your individual needs
  • How to add and manage course folders and materials
  • How to add and maintain announcements
  • How to use the Blackboard email tools to communicate with students

Blackboard/Online Learning Office Hours (in-person and via Zoom) are facilitated by Dr. Jon McKamey, Instructional Designer

  • Tuesday, Jan. 9 – 9-10 a.m. – ATLC 437 and Zoom

Drop-in as needed (in-person or remotely) to get help with specific Blackboard tools, troubleshooting, or any remote learning-related topic. Come prepared with your specific needs and you’ll get help seeking solutions.

Assistance from the Instructional Designer

Dr. McKamey is out of the office beginning Jan. 10 and will have limited access to email for a few days. He expects to return to the office on Monday, Jan. 29.

Zoom Support for Faculty and Staff (via Zoom) is facilitated by Paul D. DeNu, Technical Communication Specialist

Paul is available by appointment to provide individual training, help with concerns related to Zoom, and answer other technology-related questions.
