Surge Cupboard received generous end-of-year donations from internal and external partners

The Surge Cupboard Food Pantry benefited from several generous donations as 2023 ended, and is grateful for the support provided by friends inside and outside the College.

Members of the Surgical Technology Scrub Club (photo below) collected Food Pantry items to donate as part of their November club meeting. Faculty member Deb Shumate, the club advisor, said the students usually donate to the Food Pantry as a Spring service activity, but the members decided they wanted to help the Surge Cupboard in Fall, too.

The Tutoring Center team provided a variety of food and other products. Participating team members included Rebecca Bauer, Shea Gabriel, Debbie Greenlee, Lynne Hansen, and Sarah Pease.

Seniors from St. Ursula Academy provided a dozen boxes of food and hygiene products they collected (photo above), as part of the school’s annual Community DRIVE (Donate, Respond, Invest, Value and Educate) program.

Students from St. Xavier High School (photo below) arrived at CState in late November with three car trunks full of donations. The Food Pantry didn’t have enough carts to bring in all of the donations at once!

The Surge Cupboard is open to serve Cincinnati State students from noon to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday (Jan. 2-4, and Jan. 9-11).

Currently-registered Cincinnati State students may visit the Surge Cupboard in Main 137 once a month to receive up to a 3-day supply of food and toiletries at no cost, by showing their Surge Card (student ID card).

Spring Semester service hours and the schedule for Spring Farmer’s Market days will be shared when the new semester starts.
