Community partners helped students prepare for successful job interviews

About 30 students who are working toward earning their Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree had a chance to hone their interviewing skills during a Mock Interview Workshop on October 17. Each student completed either one or two mock interviews during the activity.

Eimee Donbar, Co-op and Internship Coordinator in Humanities and Sciences, said the mock interviews help students prepare to compete successfully for experiential learning assignments in Spring Semester and beyond.

Cherie Applebury, an Associate of Arts student, said, “My interviewer listened to me and asked questions that gave me the opportunity to improvise, which was amazing practice. I was also asked to critique myself, which gave me a chance to think quickly on my feet. Overall, it was a very beneficial experience.”

Associate of Science student Ryeona Griffin said, “I haven’t interviewed in a long time, and I realized that I need to dust off some cobwebs. I learned that being prepared is the foundation for a successful interview.”
