Condolences to the family of Eileen Berke

Eileen Berke, mother of retired faculty member Debra Lierl, and the donor of the building that is now the Eileen Berke Occupational Therapy Center, died on October 21, 2023.

Claudia Miller, Program Chair for Occupational Therapy Assistant Technology (OTA), said after Mrs. Berke survived a stroke in 2006, she helped OTA students learn valuable skills by volunteering to work with them in their lab courses.

In 2010, Mrs. Berke generously donated the OT Center building to the OTA program. The Center is across the street from the Clifton Campus, at 918 Ludlow Ave. Since then, students have had the opportunity to learn and practice their clinical skills in a realistic home environment.

Claudia said Eileen was a member of the OTA program’s Advisory Board, representing consumers of OT services, until recently when she became ill and relocated to an assisted living facility. 

Visitation is Tuesday, October 24, starting at noon, at Weil Kahn Funeral Home, 8350 Cornell Road, Cincinnati, OH 45249. Funeral services follow, starting at 1 p.m., and will be livestreamed. Internment will be private at Rest Haven Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Association, Queen City Hospice, or the American Heart Association.
