Student Activities marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a worldwide annual campaign to increase awareness and promote regular screenings and early detection of breast cancer.

The Awareness Tree is ready to Receive Your Memory Leaves

About 1 in 8 women in the U.S. and 1 in 833 men in the U.S. will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of their lives. Black women have a lower incidence of breast cancer than white women, but Black women are 40 percent more likely to die of breast cancer.

Student Activities is sponsoring an Awareness Tree that will be on display throughout the month, and Cincinnati State students and employees are invited to honor those who have fought against breast cancer by adding a “Memory Leaf” to the tree.

Visit the Student Activities Office (ATLC 204) to pick up a leaf to add to the Awareness Tree.

Your actions will acknowledge those who have won their battle, celebrate those who live on in our hearts, and help to increase awareness of the importance of early detection and ongoing support for those who are diagnosed with breast cancer.
