Trustees’ action items and discussion topics included:

  • Approval of the College budget for Fiscal Year 2024, which started July 1, 2023.
    • The budget is based on projected enrollment for 2023-24 that declines no more than 2.5% below the current year’s enrollment.
    • The budget includes funding for 384 benefits-eligible employees, an increase of 17 positions compared to the Fiscal Year 2023 budget. Chief Financial Officer Chris Calvert said efforts are being made to “restore the personnel complement” that had been reduced in past years.
    • The budget includes revenue from a tuition increase of $5/credit hour, effective in Fall Semester 2023. Another $5/credit hour tuition increase will be effective in Fall Semester 2024. The tuition increases are included in the state budget that was approved by the Ohio Legislature on June 30 and signed by Governor Mike DeWine on July 4.
  • A presentation by Provost Robbin Hoopes on the College’s strategic efforts to increase student completion, including reducing barriers, improving students’ online experiences, placing students accurately using multiple measures methods, and providing holistic advising for students.
  • An update on construction/maintenance projects that are in progress.
  • Recognition of faculty member Daniel Zimmer for work with English Language Learner parents of children at Roberts Academy (Cincinnati Public Schools) and recognition of faculty member Zane Decker and the student members of the Cincy Baja team.
  • A report from Dr. Posey on an anticipated grant award from Hamilton County that will support expansion of Cincinnati State Nursing programs.

The next regular meeting of the Board of Trustees is scheduled for August 22, 2023, at 3:45 p.m. in the Conference Center on Clifton Campus.
