Commencement 2023 is May 7

Cincinnati State’s annual Commencement ceremony is Sunday, May 7, at Xavier University’s Cintas Center. The ceremony begins at 3 p.m.

If you can’t attend in person, the ceremony will be available for live remote viewing at https://www.cintascenter.com/livestream.

Tickets are required for guests, but not for graduating students or College employees.

  • This year, 995 Cincinnati State students will graduate. These graduates collectively earned a total of 1,125 credentials, including bachelor’s degrees, associate’s degrees, or certificates.
  • Alicia Reece, the President of the Hamilton County Commission, will deliver the Commencement Address.
  • The Student Address will be delivered by Savannah Cawood, who will receive the Associate of Arts degree.
  • An Honorary Degree will be presented posthumously to the family of Richard (Dick) Weiland, a Cincinnati philanthropist, lobbyist, and past member of the College Board of Trustees.
  • A Distinguished Alumni Award will be presented to Ron Rohlfing (’90, Respiratory Care Technology). Mr. Rohlfing is the Vice President of Operations for UC Health West Chester Hospital.
  • The platform delegation will include Gary Cates, Senior Vice Chancellor of the Ohio Department of Higher Education.
  • Faculty members who will be recognized during the ceremony include:
    • 2023 House/Bruckmann Faculty Excellence Award recipients Meredith Effler (Humanities & Sciences), and Ann Fallon (Engineering & Information Technologies).
    • 2023 Adjunct Faculty Excellence Award recipients Barbara Browne (Engineering & Information Technologies), Don Pollock (Humanities & Sciences), and Kelly Wanstrath (Business Technologies).
