Test of “CState Alert” system takes place at 3 p.m. on Jan. 20

Jan 20, 2023

A test of the “CState Alert” emergency notification system will take place at 3 p.m. today, January 20.

The CState Alert system is used to contact students, employees, and College contractors in case of a College emergency or a weather-related closure.

  • The test message on January 20 will arrive using the methods the student or employee selected, or that were assigned when a student registers for classes or an employee starts work at Cincinnati State.
  • These methods can include College and personal email, calls to College or personal phone numbers, or text messages.

If you want to make changes to your contact information or how you receive alert messages, you can take these steps:

  • Log in to MyCState
  • Go to MyServices
  • Go to “My Profile” to update your contact information and options for receiving alert messages
  • Be aware that changes to your CState Alert contact information will not update until the following day.

If you have any questions about the CState Alert process or you encounter problems with the system, please contact the Technology Help Desk at (513) 569-1234.

More about the CState Alert Emergency Notification Service

CState Alert is Cincinnati State’s primary emergency notification system and is provided by ONE CALL NOW. Students and employees are automatically added to the CState Alert system when you register for classes or become an employee at Cincinnati State.

CState Alert is used by the College administration in the following ways:

  1. To alert the Cincinnati State community of a public safety emergency that could impact the campus (such as an active shooter/hostile intruder, severe weather conditions, hazardous material release, etc.) and to provide protective action instructions.
  1. To notify the Cincinnati State community of serious crimes on campus, in off-campus areas contiguous to the campus, and in nearby areas frequented by community members.
  1. To notify the Cincinnati State community of emergency campus closings.

CState Alert notifications can be delivered via cell phone calls, text messages, e-mail, and landline telephones, with the following guidelines:

  • You will always receive alert messages at your Cincinnati State email address– you can’t opt out of this method.
  • All contact information you provided to the College when you first registered for classes or were first employed is added to the CState Alert system, including your personal e-mail address, and the phone numbers you provided.
  • Cincinnati State is concerned about the security of every member of the College community, but we also respect your privacy. Therefore, if you wish, you can opt out of (withhold or withdraw) receiving CState Alert messages to your personal phone or personal e-mail.
  • Changes to your CState Alert contact information will not update until the following day.
