Members of the Health & Public Safety Division invite all members of the College community to help support their “giving season” projects.

A Sock Drive is underway throughout the month of November, to support the Recovery Center of Hamilton County, a non-profit organization that “promotes health and wellness through empowerment, education, and peer support so individuals affected by mental illness can live fulfilling lives.”

  • The Sock Drive project began as an idea from Nursing students who toured the Recovery Center at the beginning of their on-site clinical experiences, led by Nursing Professor Janice Curry.
  • Later, the students prepared a set of collection boxes, with help and support for the project provided by the Recovery Center Donations Coordinator, Marilyn Theis, the Communications Director, Amanda Stoddard, and the Executive Director, Chris Pedoto.
  • The collection boxes are now available in the Health Professions building to accept your donations of “the joy of new socks” in sizes for adult men and women.

A Toy Drive is also taking place in HPS through December 2, supporting the Cincinnati Recreation Commission and the Winton Terrace community.

  • Your donations of new, unwrapped toys for children ages 5–12 are appreciated, and for Winton Terrace, donations of hats and gloves are also accepted.
