Learn “How to be an Informed Voter” at Sep. 21 presentation

All members of the College community are invited to learn How to be an Informed Voter, presented by Mary Kate Genis, Board President of the League of Women Voters of the Cincinnati Area, and sponsored by the Cincinnati State Women’s Empowerment Network.

The presentation is Wednesday, September 21, from 11 a.m. to noon in ATLC 417.

Discussion will focus on the “where, when, what, how, and why” of voting in Ohio, but some information will apply to other states as well. Topics include voting eligibility requirements; voter rights information; registering to vote (or helping others to register); using resources for voting like Vote411; and processes for voting early, by mail, or in-person on election day.

The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan organization, founded in 1920, that works to protect and expand voting rights, empower voters, and defend democracy through advocacy, education, and litigation, at the local, state, and national levels.

Mary Kate Genis has been a member of the League since 2017. She is passionate about being a part of positive impact in the community, both professionally and through volunteering. Professionally, Mary Kate is an Architect and Project Manager at KZF Design, and she obtained undergraduate and graduate degree in Architecture from the University of Cincinnati.
