Celebrate National Food Bank Day: Support the Surge Cupboard

Sep 2, 2022

September 2 is National Food Bank Day— so if you’re grocery shopping this weekend, perhaps you’ll want to consider adding something to your cart to donate to Cincinnati State’s Surge Cupboard Food Pantry.

The Surge Cupboard, in Main Building Room 137, is open to all currently-registered Cincinnati State students.

Students may visit once a month to receive up to a 3-day supply of food and toiletries at no cost, by showing their Surge Card (student ID card).

  • Food Pantry hours for Fall Semester are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from noon to 3 p.m.
  • The Surge Cupboard also will offer the first Farmer’s Market of Fall Semester on Thursday, September 15, from 11 a.m. until produce is gone. Look for the Farmer’s Market on the first floor of the ATLC, near the fireplace.
  • On Farmer’s Market days, currently-registered Cincinnati State students can obtain fresh fruits and vegetables provided through a partnership with the Cincinnati FreeStore FoodBank. Produce available varies from month to month.
  • Additional Fall Semester Farmer’s Market days are October 20 and November 17.
