Welcome, new Criminal Justice faculty member

Aug 29, 2022

Jeaneen Mullins has joined Cincinnati State as a full-time faculty member in Criminal Justice (part of the Social and Behavioral Sciences Department in the Humanities & Sciences Division). She will teach and also advise students who are seeking an associate degree and interested in a major in criminal justice when they transfer to a 4-year institution.

Jeaneen earned an associate degree in Chemistry at UC Clermont and completed her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Criminal Justice from the University of Cincinnati. She is pursuing a PhD from UC also, in Criminal Justice with focus on courts and corrections, and she has taught several criminal justice courses at UC.

Jeaneen’s professional experience includes three years as a diversion officer and two years as a supervisor/manager with Warren County Pretrial Service. She has worked with prosecutors, juvenile court, and in a jail setting.

While attending UC, Jeaneen worked at their Corrections Institute (UCCI) coaching probation officers, case managers, and supervising officers on the EPICS model (Effect Practices in Community Supervision) of effective intervention and core correctional practices for community corrections supervision.

Jeaneen also completed two consecutive one-year internships with the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office and Pretrial Services. She has been a volunteer advocate with Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) in Northern Kentucky since 2019.

Jeaneen’s husband, Jason, works in construction and project management. The family includes four children: sons age 30 and 28 who live and work in California, and 22-year old fraternal boy/girl twins who live in Northern Kentucky. The family also has two “furry children”– Lucy, a 12-year-old black Scottish terrier, and Roo, a 3-year-old wheaten Scottish terrier.

When not teaching, Jeaneen loves to travel with her husband and friends, work on or sail on their “COVID project” sailboat, and root for the Cincinnati Bearcat football team. Jeaneen said, “We have had season tickets since the 90’s and try to travel to at least one game a year.”  After attending the College Football Bowl playoffs in Dallas last year, she’s hoping the Bearcats can make another run in the 2022-23 football season!
