Aug 12, 2022

On August 11 Cincinnati State hosted more than 40 business and community leaders and other guests at the quarterly meeting of the Southwest Ohio Region Workforce Investment Board (SWORWIB).

SWORWIB is a nonprofit organization that is responsible for “developing strategies to engage employers, employees, government, education, organized labor, and community-based organizations in a partnership to strengthen and expand the workforce resources of the region.”

The SWORWIB guides implementation of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) in the City of Cincinnati and Hamilton County.

The WIOA is a program of the U.S. Department of Labor that was approved by the U.S. Congress in 2014 “to help job seekers access employment, education, training, and support services to succeed in the labor market and to match employers with the skilled workers they need to compete in the global economy.”

Attendees were welcomed by Cincinnati State President Monica Posey, who noted that the College’s mission is aligned with SWORWIB’s work, and by Amy Waldbillig, the College’s Vice President of Workforce Development, who serves as a SWORWIB board member.
