If you were unable to attend the June 28, 2022, meeting of the College Board of Trustees, the video recording of the meeting is available on the College intranet.

Trustees’ action items and discussion topics included:

  • Approval of the College budget for Fiscal Year 2023, which begins July 1, 2022.
    • The budget is based on projected enrollment for 2022-23 that declines no more than 4% below the current year’s enrollment.
    • The budget includes funding for 367 full-time positions, some of which will be new positions.
    • President Monica Posey said the budget reflects a desire to “make more investments in faculty and staff” so the College can “do the things we’d like to do.”
    • Chief Financial Officer Chris Calvert said he has discussed with the Board’s Finance Committee projected budget deficits for Fiscal Years 2024 and 2025, including a projected deficit of more than $2 million in FY2025.
  • Approval of recommendations for Sabbatical Leave for 3 faculty members:
    • Jayne Dressing – Create alternative models for co-op/internship for students focused on transfer to a 4-year program after completing their associate’s degree.
    • Candice “CJ” Jones – Create a Culinary Nutrition Therapy course and design and implement an accelerated Dietary Management Certificate.
    • Leesha Thrower – Create a Cincinnati State Speaker’s Bureau to serve the community.

Sabbatical recommendations are the result of review by a committee comprised of faculty members and the academic Deans, followed by review from the Provost and the President. The details of eligibility for sabbatical leave and the application process are described in the AAUP contract.
  • Approval of the Student Success and Campus Completion Plan for 2022-2024, which was presented by Provost Robbin Hoopes. The College’s first Completion Plan was submitted to the Ohio Department of Higher Education in 2014 and an updated Plan is submitted every two years.
  • An update on construction/maintenance projects that are in progress, including:
    • The Fire Loop Replacement has been completed.
    • Repairs to the Clifton Campus Gymnasium roof are delayed, pending delivery of materials.
    • Construction of the new Allied Health Simulation Lab on the first floor of the Clifton Campus Main Building is on schedule and the SIM Lab is expected to be ready for use by the end of 2022.
    • Completion of the project to improve air handling units in the Main Building is delayed because of supply chain issues. The project is expected to be finished in late 2022 or early 2023.
  • Recognition of two faculty members, Patricia Christos and Carol Morman, who received awards from professional organizations.
  • A report from Dr. Posey on recent in-person activities and admission events on campus.
