College Update recording posted & Bengals trivia contest winners announced

The theme of the Valentine’s Day, post-Super Bowl event was “We love the Bengals,” and the session started with a video review of Bengals spirit demonstrations around campus.

President Monica Posey noted that similar to the Bengals, the future for Cincinnati State looks bright despite past hardships.

Quoting a recent comment about the Bengals and applying it to the CState community, she said: “Next year begins today, with hope.”

The Common Time session also included some Bengals-themed trivia contests.

  • Contest winners were Jesse Brown, Scott Horn, and Eric Svensson
  • Prizes can be picked up at the College Executive Suite (ATLC 343) any day between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Some of the topics discussed at the College Update by Dr. Posey and others included:

  • Academic updates including the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) accreditation visit to the College’s non-Clifton campuses, which will take place Mar. 10 and 11.
     
  • An update on recent CState activities in the “Moon Shot for Equity” project, in partnership with Miami University, Northern Kentucky University, and Gateway Community College.
     
    Current focus for “Moon Shot” initiatives includes examining student registration holds, providing retention grants for students near completion, and looking at transfer pathways in the participating institutions.
     
  • A report on Student Government Association activities and events and other Student Activities initiatives.
     
  • A progress report on the IT Modernization Project, which includes improvements to College hardware and software systems.
     
  • An update on Marketing and Enrollment initiatives.
     
  • An update on Facilities and Capital Projects, including the Fire Loop replacement, Gym roof repairs, the Health Simulations Lab that will be going into the former Cashier’s Office on Main first floor,and other projects that are getting started soon or in planning phases.
     
  • Institutional Advancement updates including nominations for the Distinguished Alumni Award, and plans for Alumni Association events in May (a Cinco de Mayo celebration) and September (the Honors Scholarship Golf Classic).
