Cincinnati State Library invites you to help celebrate Black History Month with your reading recommendations

Throughout February, the Cincinnati State Library is celebrating Black History Month by sharing recommended books that honor the struggles and triumphs of the Black Experience.

Recommendations are posted daily on the Library’s homepage (scroll down to the section Library News > Follow Us on Twitter) or you can go directly to the Library’s Twitter social media feed: @cinstatelibrary.

The Library will pay special attention to Black authors and to non-fiction titles that address this year’s theme of “Black Health & Wellness,” but all relevant recommendations are encouraged.

To share your recommended books, please send a message to Kathleen Pickens (kathleen.pickens@cincinnatistate.edu).

  • Remember to include the title and author for your recommendation.

  • If you want to, share a picture of yourself holding or reading the book.

  • If you cleaned out your book collection during the pandemic, consider visiting the Library, and you might be able to find a copy of the book you’d like others to read, too.

Read on, and celebrate Black History!
