Main Building Recovery Project – Progress Report for week of Dec. 7

President Monica Posey reported in her College Update email message on Dec. 7 that classrooms and labs in the A and B Wings of the Main Building will be back in use for Spring Semester 2021 classes.

  • Faculty members who use classrooms in the wings will work with their deans to prepare for reoccupancy, which will begin Jan. 4, 2021.
     
  • The rest of Main Building will remain closed during Spring Semester so repairs can be completed.
     
  • Access to A and B Wings during Spring Semester will be from Parking Lot D only, and College Drive will remain closed during Spring Semester.
     
  • All parking lots and garages will continue to be open and free for students and visitors throughout Spring Semester.
     
  • The entire Main Building will reopen in Summer Semester 2021.

Work ongoing this week, as reported by Vice President of Administration Lawra Baumann, includes:

  • Electrical repair of A and B Wings is 90% complete.
     
  • Work is underway to locate leaks and repair air compression lines that serve A and B Wings and the Boiler Room.
     
  • Hazardous material abatement is 100% complete.
     
  • Removal of abandoned lines in tunnels is underway.
