Main Building Recovery Project – Progress Report for Nov. 2

Progress reports on the efforts to assess and repair damage to the Main Building will be provided regularly in Daily News.

Highlights for the past week, as reported by Vice President of Administration Lawra Baumann, include:

  • Two of 5 new boilers have been tested and are ready for use to maintain minimum levels of heat and prevent freezing inside Main.
     
  • Electrical repair and rewiring has commenced in A and B Wings.
     
  • Chiller redesign has been finalized and the procurement process has started.
     
  • Three of the 6 elevators in Main have been assessed and repair work has been authorized.
     
  • Lighting has been restored to most of the building.

At the Board of Trustees meeting on Oct. 27, Dr. Baumann reported that Main Building is expected to be back to full operation for Summer Semester 2021.

  • Assessment is continuing to determine if it will be possible to return some classes to lab rooms in A and B Wings sometime during Spring Semester 2021.
