Main Building Recovery Project – Progress Report for Oct. 26

Progress reports on the efforts to assess and repair damage to the Main Building will be provided regularly in Daily News.

Highlights for the past week, as reported by Vice President of Administration Lawra Baumann, include:

  • New boilers are in place in Main.
    • Two of the boilers will be tested this week, in preparation for turning on boilers by Nov. 1 to generate minimal heat and prevent freezing inside the building.
       
  • Use of a temporary chiller for the Health Professions Building will be discontinued this week. The HPB boiler has been tested and is ready for use.
     
  • Electrical assessment continues this week.
    • Rewiring of feeder lines to A and B Wings will begin.
    • Electrical outages in Main will occur frequently in coming weeks to accommodate electrical repair and testing work.
       
  • Design recommendations are being finalized for remaining mechanical equipment in Main including chillers, hot water, and compressed air.
     
  • An adjustor and an engineer representing the College’s insurance company completed a site visit and tour of most of the tunnels in Main on Oct. 22.
