Many organizations continue to offer programs that may be of interest to Cincinnati State faculty and other members of the College community.

Magna Publications, the publisher of professional development resources for higher education faculty, is offering free individual access to the online seminar “Contemplative Pedagogy for Purposeful Teaching.”

Those who register by end-of-day on Friday, September 30, will have access to the seminar for one week at no cost.

Contemplative pedagogy “provides an opportunity to take a deep breath and rethink the ‘new normal’ in the context of best practices for both teachers and students.”

The webinar examines a wide range of educational methods that “support the development of student attention, emotional balance, empathetic connection, compassion, and altruistic behavior, while also providing new teaching techniques that support creativity and learning of course content.”

The webinar presenter is Dr. Michael Strawser, an assistant professor of communication at the University of Central Florida and also the managing editor of the Journal of Faculty Development.
