Faculty Senate retreat included service project for Freestore Foodbank

Cincinnati State’s Faculty Senate members held a planning retreat on July 14, 2025, at the Freestore Foodbank facility near Delhi, and helped provide meals for families that are dealing with food insecurity.

The first part of the day was a business meeting where Senators reviewed initiatives and accomplishments from the 2024-25 academic year, including examining the work completed by Faculty Senate committees. Senators also discussed and prioritized goals for the upcoming 2025-26 year.

After the business meeting, Senators completed a service project by packing 20 pallets with boxes for a Freestore Foodbank summer food program that serves families at area rec centers, libraries, and community centers. The 20 pallets of food will provide 800 meals for families in need in Cincinnati, particularly for those with school-aged children who don’t have access to school-provided lunch and breakfast programs during the summer months.

The Faculty Senate plans to continue sponsoring volunteer opportunities for faculty and staff throughout the 25-26 academic year. A schedule of volunteer options will be shared in Fall.
