Online Learning Support for Aug. 8-12 includes Blackboard 101 & more

Support services provided by the Office of Online Learning for August 8-12 include assistance with Blackboard and Zoom.

For more information about all resources available from the Office of Online Learning, visit the “Support/Training” section of the COVID-19 Faculty Resources site in Blackboard. Look for this site near the bottom of your list of Blackboard courses.

Blackboard 101 is facilitated by Dr. Jon McKamey, Instructional Designer.

Instructors who are not familiar with Blackboard or want to brush up on the basics are welcome to this hands-on, in-person training. Sessions are offered:

  • Monday, Aug. 8 – 9 a.m.-noon, Main 347
  • Wednesday, Aug. 10 – 5-8 p.m., Main 347

Topics covered include:

  • How to log onto the MyCState/Blackboard site
  • How to navigate within the MyCState environment
  • How to modify a course site and customize it for your individual needs
  • How to add folders, information, and attachments
  • How to add and maintain announcements
  • How to use the Blackboard email tools to communicate with students

Attendees must have a valid Cincinnati State email username and password, and should bring files to use during the training (course syllabus, course documents, handouts, PowerPoint files, etc.).

If you have files stored on your Z Drive or One Drive, you will be able to access them during the training.

  • Tuesday, Aug. 9 – 11 a.m.-noon
  • Wednesday, Aug. 10 – 2-3 p.m.
  • Friday, Aug. 12 – 11 a.m.-noon

Drop-in as needed to get help with specific Blackboard tools, troubleshooting, or any remote learning-related topic. Come prepared with your specific needs and you’ll get help seeking solutions.

Remote Assistance from the Instructional Designer  | Self-paced “Teaching Online” course

Remote assistance will be provided via Zoom to help individuals with online course and Blackboard issues.

Faculty members are encouraged to sign up for the self-paced, 6-module online course Teaching Online for Cincinnati State, facilitated by Dr. McKamey.

  • Faculty can enroll in the course at any time. See the weekly PDF training schedule for more information.
Zoom Support for Faculty & Staff (via Zoom) is facilitated by Paul D. DeNu, Technical Communication Specialist

To schedule an appointment for help with Zoom troubleshooting or training, send email to Paul D. DeNu at pddenu@cincinnatistate.edu, and then you can join Paul on Zoom at the scheduled time.

Paul is also available by appointment to provide individual training and help with concerns related to Zoom, as well as help with other learning technology (Collaborate, audio/video work, Screencast-O-Matic, closed captioning, accessibility, and Blackboard assistance).
