It's Moving Day for Admission Office, Transfer Center, & Career Center
On Monday, Nov. 26, the Office of Admission, the Transfer Center, and the Career Center (all on Clifton Campus) will close at noon and make the move to new offices in the ATLC.
- The Office of Admission will re-open on Tuesday morning, Nov. 27, in the new Welcome Center on the lower level of the ATLC.
- Please note that the Testing Center will remain in its current location in the Main Building.
- The Transfer Center will re-open on Tuesday morning, Nov. 27, in the new Transfer Center area on the second floor of the ATLC, near Bakery Hill.
- The re-opening day for the Career Center will be announced soon. The new location is on the second floor of the ATLC, across from the new Transfer Center.
New Resource Center assists students who are parents (& offers Time Management workshop on Nov. 28)
Cincinnati State's Clifton Campus now has a Parent Resource Center, providing services for Cincinnati State students who are also parents, or serve in a parenting role.
The goal of the Parent Resource Center-- currently located in Main Building Room 126E-- is to provide support that helps students meet challenges as they strive to succeed in college and graduate.
The Parent Resource Center is funded by a Department of Education grant secured by Early Childhood Education Program Chair Sandy Owen, with additional financial support from the PNC Charitable Foundation.
Activities and services offered include:
- A place to gather with other parents who are students to study or talk about shared concerns
- Workshops on topics that are relevant to students who are also parents
- The first workshop offered by the Parent Resource Center takes place Wednesday, Nov. 28, and focuses on Time Managment skills for students who are parents. The Workshop is in Main 128 from 2 to 3 p.m.
- Referrals to resources for academic and community support
- A "Parents in College" Blackboard community
- A lending library with parenting resources and children’s books
- In the future, a children’s clothes closet
The Parent Resource Center also administers the Child Care Access Means Parents in School grant (CCAMPIS), a federally-funded program that supports Pell-grant eligible students with funding to assist with child care costs.
Students who are parents are encouraged to complete a quick online survey about their needs and challenges.

Training sessions offered for Curriculum (CIM) database
The Academic Policies and Curriculum Committee (APCC) is providing training for anyone who wants to learn (or review) how to use CIM-- the College's Curriculum Information Management system.
The CIM database stores College information about all credit-bearing courses, and all curriculums for associate's degree and certificate programs.
Training is open to all faculty and staff members who interact with CIM.
Training sessions are available:

- Thursday, Nov. 29, 2:30-4 p.m., Main 347
- Friday, Nov. 30, 1-2:30 p.m., Main 347

You're welcome to attend if you have questions or want to refresh your knowledge before the annual curriculum review proces begins in Spring semester.
Entering, revising, and maintaining information in CIM is critical to the annual curriculum review process conducted by APCC.
The information stored in CIM also provides the starting point for annual updates to the College Catalog and updates to curriculum information on the College website.
Free law clinic for students in Nov. & Dec.
The Ohio Center for Justice and Policy (OJPC), in partnership with Cincinnati State Paralegal students, is providing free assistance to students who are trying to overcome barriers to employment created by a criminal record.
Students who visit the law clinic will learn if they are qualified for record sealing, expungement, or a Certificate of Qualification for Employment (CQE) issued by the state of Ohio.
Law Clinic days and times are:

Suicide prevention film viewing & discussion on Nov. 28
"Suicide: The Ripple Effect," a 90-minute documentary film about suicide, and the positive ripple effects of advocacy and hope, will be presented on Wednesday, Nov. 28.
The film screening and discussion is from noon to 2 p.m. in the ATLC Auditorium (ATLC 211).
All members of the College community are welcome to attend, and encouraged to stay for follow-up discussion after the film.
The documentary chronicles the personal journey of Kevin Hines, who at age 19 attempted to take his life by jumping from the Golden Gate Bridge.
Today, Kevin is a mental health advocate, motivational speaker, and author who travels the globe spreading a message of hope, recovery, and wellness.
In addition, the film highlights stories of individuals and families who are using the impact of personal tragedy to bring hope and healing to others.
The campus movie screening and discussion is sponsored by Student Activities, with financial support from the James W. Miller Memorial Fund (1N5.org).
Surveys for Strategic Plan and Convocation due Nov. 26 & 27
If you haven't yet provided input for the new Cincinnati State Strategic Plan or provided feedback about Convocation, consider taking a few minutes during the next couple of days to complete both surveys.
- Strategic Plan input is due Monday, Nov. 26. The survey link is available at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Convocation_Strat_Planning.
Before you complete the survey, you should view the Situational Analysis presented by Dr. Posey at Convocation.
- Convocation feedback is due at noon on Tuesday, Nov. 27. Each employee received a unique link to the survey, so look for an email message from Lynn Sadowski (Institutional Research), sent to you on Tuesday, Nov. 13.
Consider the Annual Fund campaign on Giving Tuesday
November 27 is Giving Tuesday, when you are encouraged to focus your seasonal spending on charitable donations. The Annual Fund Giving Challenge provides many opportunities to give to Cincinnati State in support of our students, our programs, and our projects.
Another "This is CState" campaign prize drawing will take place this Friday, Nov. 30. If you turn in your pledge card by Friday (to your Team Captain or at the Development Office in ATLC 337), you'll automatically be entered into the drawing (and all future drawings).

Get tickets now for "Cookies with Santa" on Dec. 1
The annual "Cookies with Santa" event for the Cincinnati State family is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 1, from 10 a.m. to noon, in the ATLC First Floor Lounge (near the fireplace) on Clifton Campus.
Students, staff, and faculty members are welcome to bring to campus your children, or grandchildren, or nieces and nephews, or the neighborhood kids-- all are welcome.
The event will include games, some prizes, cookies, and of course, photos with the celebrity of the season, Santa.
Tickets ($3 each) are required. You can purchase tickets in the Student Activities Office, ATLC 204.
Help the Holiday Helpers bring joy
Student Activities, in partnership with Cincinnati State's student clubs and organizations, is offering the second annual CState Holiday Helpers program.
The Holiday Helpers program will "adopt" some families of CState students and provide a holiday meal and gifts to share with loved ones-- thus making the season brighter for students and their families.
- Any student may apply to the program by writing a 1-page essay that describes their family and why they are candidates for the Holiday Helpers program.
- The essay should include the family’s holiday "wish list," with ages of children (and sizes, if requesting clothing or shoes as gifts).
- Essays should be sent by email to Bryan Dell (email@example.com).
- The deadline for submitting essays is Friday, Nov. 30-- however, students who turn in essays by Tuesday, Nov. 27, will receive free tickets to "Cookies with Santa."
Recipients of Holiday Help will be selected from those who submit essays. The families chosen will get a box of food from the Surge Cupboard Food Pantry, a Kroger gift card, and gifts.
Faculty and staff members are encouraged to share information about the Holiday Helpers program with students.
- If you would like to contribute funds to help purchase gifts for the selected families, see one of the staff members in Student Activities.
Donations of cash or checks (payable to "Student Activities" with subject line "Holiday Helpers") will be accepted until Nov. 30.
- If you would like to donate your time, volunteers are needed to help wrap gifts on Dec. 13 and 14 in the Student Activities office.
